FOR TOWNSHIP COUNCIL

Lauren Chalus is a long-time Township of Langley resident, community advocate, and stakeholder engagement professional with more than 11 years of experience helping communities navigate complex decisions. She holds a Bachelor of Environment in Resource and Environmental Management from Simon Fraser University, with a minor in Indigenous Studies and a Certificate in Indigenous Research. Throughout her career, she has worked on some of Western Canada’s largest infrastructure and capital projects, building trusted relationships, facilitating meaningful consultation, and balancing community interests with project objectives.

Lauren spent nearly four years in External Relations on the Trans Mountain Expansion Project, leading stakeholder engagement across British Columbia and Alberta with a focus on high-impact residential construction. Today, she works in Indigenous Relations at BC Hydro, leading consultation and engagement on major capital, program, and distribution projects across British Columbia. She works alongside First Nations, government agencies, regulators, and local communities to support informed decision-making, build trusted relationships, and advance complex projects. She didn’t just study these processes; she’s done the work and sat at the table.

Closer to home, Lauren has proudly served on the Township of Langley’s Heritage Advisory Committee and has been actively involved in community advocacy on local planning issues. Those experiences reinforced her belief that residents deserve to be heard early, that public input should meaningfully shape decisions, and that local government works best when it is transparent, accountable, and fiscally responsible.

Lauren is passionate about fiscal responsibility, transparent governance, and community well-being and safety. An animal lover, dog mom, and proud supporter of local businesses, she enjoys attending community events, gardening, and giving back to the community she is proud to call home.
