Langley Strong Launches to Restore Accountability in the Township

For Immediate Release

March 8, 2026, Langley, BC — Langley Strong has been officially announced as a new municipal electoral organization for the upcoming fall municipal election.

The organization has completed its registration with Elections BC and will field candidates in the upcoming Township of Langley municipal election, including candidates for Mayor, Council, and the Langley School District Board of Trustees. Candidate announcements will be made in the coming weeks.

Langley Strong was created in response to growing concern among residents that local government must operate with greater openness, accessibility, and accountability,” said Karen Zukas, Communications Chair of Langley Strong.

“Across the Township, we are hearing the same message from residents — they want a local government that is actually more accessible, more accountable, and more transparent and not just promising it, but actually delivering it,” said Zukas.

“Langley Strong was formed because the people believe it’s time to restore trust and bring local government back to the community. Residents deserve to know how decisions are made, to have meaningful access to their elected officials, to be able to attend Council and participate in meetings at a reasonable time and to feel confident their voices are being heard.”

Zukas added that the organization is focused on thoughtful leadership that reflects the priorities of the community. “Our goal is simple: responsible leadership, open decision- making, and meaningful engagement with residents. Langley Strong is about building a stronger future for the Township through collaboration, accountability, and respect for the people who call Langley home.”
